Children in the Nursery may enter their classroom at 8.45 am for the morning session and 12.30 pm for the afternoon session. Children in the Reception and Key Stage 1 classes may enter their classrooms from 8.50 am, while Key Stage 2 children should wait in the playground until the bell is rung at 8.55 am.
Children should not arrive too early in the morning. No responsibility can be accepted for those who arrive before 8.45 am.
We would ask parents to make sure, however, that children arrive at school on time in the morning, so that valuable teaching time is not lost.
Time spent on teaching (to the nearest half hour) in the Key Stage 2 classes is 24 hours per week, and in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 classes 22 hours (teaching time excluding registration, assembly and breaks).
Occasionally, it may be necessary for children to spend a few extra minutes in school at the end of the day to complete work, help with tidying-up, change their clothes after a games lesson, or for some other reason. If children are likely to remain for more than ten minutes, parents will be informed in advance (for instance, when children are attending an out-of-school club).
